Result descriptions

The following table describes result icons and their meanings.

Icon

Description

Success

Success. The ID document passed a verification check. For North American ID documents, such as a driver license, Success means the ID document barcode passed our verification check. For international ID documents, such as a passport or passport card, Success means the machine-readable zone (MRZ) passed a verification check. Keep in mind that Intellicheck provides results that can help you make a decision. Success is a result, not a decision. It is not, nor does it imply, a decision regarding authenticity.

Expired.png

Expired. The ID document is expired.

Reissued

Reissued ID. The ID document was identified as a duplicate of the original.

Address mismatch

Address Mismatch. The address jurisdiction does not match the ID document issuing jurisdiction.

Face mismatch

Face Mismatch. The selfie does not match the photo on the ID document.

Liveness detection fail

Liveness Detection Fail. The selfie did not successfully pass liveness detection. Liveness detection checks that the person is genuinely present.

OCR mismatch

OCR Mismatch. The optical character recognition (OCR) text did not match the equivalent text found in the ID document barcode or machine-readable zone (MRZ) data.

Failed

Failed. The ID document failed a verification check. For North American ID documents, such as a driver license, Failed means the ID document barcode did not pass our verification check. For international ID documents, such as a passport or passport card, Failed means the machine-readable zone (MRZ) did not pass a verification check. Keep in mind that Intellicheck provides results that can help you make a decision. Failed is a result, not a decision. It is not, nor does it imply, a decision regarding authenticity.

Facial Results

Facial verification and liveness detection captures a customer selfie and determines if there is a live person. Biometric matching compares the photograph on the ID document to the selfie.

Face Match

Whether the selfie matches the ID photo. Values are True or False.

Is Live

Whether the person is genuinely present. Values are True or False.

Document Liveness Results

Did the front-side and back-side of the ID pass a document liveness check? Values are Pass, Fail, or N/A if no check was performed.

Document liveness results
Portrait Substitution

Is the ID document photo replaced?

Screen Replay

Is the ID document an image or video of a document?

Printed Copy

Is the ID document presented to the camera a physical, printed document that was designed to imitate a government-issued ID? The printed document may be a photocopy of an authentic document, or the document may be altered/forged.

Process Results

If you selected North American Driver's License/Identification Cards as the Document Type, then Process Results includes a Result status.

Result

The Result is determined by Intellicheck. It is a processing result status code value. The following table describes each of the possible Result values.

Result Status Code

Description

Pass (DocumentProcessOK)

We authenticated the document. This status code means the document was successfully decoded.

Fail (DocumentUnknown)

We did not authenticate the document. This status code can be interpreted in two ways. 1. The document data is unrecognized as a government-issued ID. 2. It is a government-issued ID that we are currently unable to process for a specific reason, such as the following: 2a. The document is from a foreign country. 2b. The document is not from a foreign country, but it is completely new and will likely be supported in the near future. 2c. The document data appears to be from a government-issued ID, but we detected a problem. This could mean the document is fake.

DocumentBadRead

We encountered an error reading media off the document. This status code is returned for certain barcode readers that detect bad reads and provide a read-error result to indicate that a card was detected but no barcode was found.

DocumentBadDevice

We were unable to process the submitted data. This status code is returned for an unsupported reading device, or if the barcode was not extracted from the image data.

DocumentFinancial

We detected a financial card. This status code means the document was a financial card, for example, a credit card or a benefits card. Financial cards are not processed.

Document1DDocument

We detected 1D barcode data. This status code means a 1D barcode was detected. 1D barcodes are not processed. We can only process a 2D barcode.

ErrorBadConfiguration

Jurisdiction processing failed. This status code means that an error occurred during startup or initialization. Contact Intellicheck customer support.

UnexpectedError

We detected an unknown error while processing the document. This status code means that our system encountered an unexpected result. Contact Intellicheck customer support.

Result comparisions

The results are divided into two halfs:

  • On the left half is Process Results (for a North American ID) or Documents Results (for an international document). The left half shows text decoded from the ID document barcode data or from the international document machine-readable zone (MRZ).

  • On the right half is OCR Results (VIZ). The right half shows text extracted from the ID document visual inspection zone (VIZ) with optical character recognition (OCR) technology.

You can quickly compare results on one side of the page to the other side. Mismatched results appear in a different color.

Compare results

In this example, Name is mismatched. This occurs when the decoded information does not match the extracted information. Date of Birth is not mismatched, even though the formats differ.

  • The decoded information on the left comes from the barcode or from the machine-readable zone (MRZ).

  • The extracted information on the right comes from the visual inspection zone (VIZ) through an optical character recognition (OCR) scan.
