Cardholder Information Messages and Warnings

Authenticity
Intellicheck provides results only. Always make your own determination regarding ID authenticity.
On the Cardholder Information box, there are barcode messages and OCR match messages. Message color indicates status. Green is for passed, yellow is for warning or alert, and red is for failure.
note
Messages
Messages are colorful tips on the Cardholder Information box that tell you a little more about the authentication check.
If warnings are found, they are displayed when the box is expanded.
Here are Cardholder Information warnings and their explanations:
AUTH-FAIL-ERROR-OCR: Front of the document does not match issuer within barcode.
An issuer mismatch was detected, which could indicate fraud. Evaluate the ID carefully.
Highlighted field(s) does not match.
Information in the barcode or MRZ does not match OCR text.
Document unrecognized. Could not perform OCR.
OCR match was requested but not performed because the barcode format was unrecognized or not decoded by Intellicheck.
OCR was not performed. OCR Match N/A.
OCR match was requested but not performed because the submitted document image was of very poor quality, the wrong side, or an unsupported format.
Barcode messages
Here are three barcode messages:
Barcode passed. The barcode format was recognized and decoded by Intellicheck.
Barcode passed/expired. The barcode format was recognized and decoded by Intellicheck. But the document is expired.
Barcode failed. The barcode format was unrecognized or not decoded by Intellicheck.
OCR match messages
Here are three OCR match messages:
Front matches barcode. The text on the front of the ID document is the same as the text derived from the barcode.
Front matches barcode with warnings. The text extracted from the front of the ID does not match the data encoded in the barcode. The differences indicate a possible discrepancy.
Front does not match barcode. The text on the front of the ID document is not the same as the text derived from the barcode.
note
Flexibility
The message Front matches barcode with warnings adds a layer of flexibility between a match and mismatch.
Front does not match barcode
The message Front does not match barcode indicates a mismatch. This can happen under two scenarios:
Issuer did not pass OCR with one-hundred-percent confidence.
Any of the following did not pass OCR within a certain margin of error:
Name
Address
Date of Birth
Expiration Date
Issue Date
We allow a margin of error to account for discrepancies typically due to poor image quality.
Front matches barcode with warnings is shown for any other mismatch outside of these two scenarios.
Passport and international document messages
Passports and international documents contain a machine-readable zone (MRZ) instead of a barcode. These messages are equivalent to barcode messages but terminology differs. They contain the terms "format" or "MRZ" in place of "barcode".
Evaluate messages separately
Messages are independent. Each applies to a different authentication check. Evaluate each message separately.
For example, you might see Barcode Passed alongside Front does not match barcode. One message is about the barcode check. The other message is about OCR matching. They do not have a dependent relationship.
